This address was delivered at the annual conference of the ABIM Foundation. The Kimball Lecture is named in honor of Harry J. Kimball, MD, a board-certified internist who served as President and CEO of the American Board of Internal Medicine and the ABIM Foundation from 1991 to 2003.
